From SAN JOSE
From the airport, head west, note…the Pan American road is very busy during rush hour. After about 50 minutes, you will take the entrance to San Ramon. Cross straight through the town, at the end of the street turn left, and at the next traffic light turn right (1 block), heading north. You will pass the San Ramon Hospital, from here on you will be crossing mountain roads with nearly no traffic.
Follow the road to Bajo Rodriguez; once here take a right turn to Santa Clara. At Santa Clara, make a left and head on to La Fortuna. Pass downtown La Fortuna and drive 2 km towards the volcano you will find Vagabondo on your left hand side.
The road is in excellent condition just be aware there are some dangerous curves of 90°, drive slowly! (And if you get car sick you may want Dramamine or similar medication)
It takes about 90 min from San Ramon to La Fortuna Town, just follow the road and the signs, you can´t miss it.
Total distance from San Jose: 190 kilometers (119 miles). Approximate travel time from San Jose to Restaurante VAGABONDO: 3 hours
From LIBERIA
There is only one road from Liberia- it will take you through Cañas, Tilarán and Nuevo Arenal. We are located on the left hand side, 2 km before you arrive to downtown La Fortuna.
Distance from Liberia to Nuevo Arenal: 127 kilometers (80 miles). Approximate travel time from Liberia to Restaurante VAGABONDO: 4 hours
Flying to La Fortuna:
There are convenient flights with Sansa or Nature Air to the local airport in La Fortuna. Flights are available from San Jose, Liberia, Manuel Antonio and many other popular destinations. Sansa flies out of the international airports, where as Nature Air uses smaller local airstrips. It takes about 15 minutes by taxi to get to the VAGABONDO Restaurante y Pizzeria.
